ADC AK5572 v3 – Very High Performance Audio AD-Converter
- Excellent performance, typical (balanced):
- THD+N ratio / SINAD:
- XLR input: -114 dB (1 kHz, -2 dBFS).
- RCA input: -113 dB (1 kHz, -2 dBFS).
- THD ratio:
- XLR input: around -125 dB (1 kHz, -2 dBFS; there is some variation, but overall improvement over v2).
- RCA input: around -118 dB (1 kHz, -2 dBFS; higher second harmonic).
- Dynamic range / SNR:
- XLR input: 121 dBA.
- RCA input: 120 dBA.
- THD+N ratio / SINAD:
- Up to 768 kHz / 32-bit sampling.
- Input gain can be set to 0 dB, 6 dB, 9.5 dB, or 12 dB.
- Default XLR input gain/level is 0 dB / 4 Vrms.
- Default RCA input gain/level is 6 dB / 2 Vrms.
- DC-coupled input (ADC IC has optional digital HPF to remove DC offset).
- 2nd order low-pass filter at around 400kHz.
- AK5572EN, OPA1612/OPA1632 opamps, LT3042 regulator, thin film resistors and C0G capacitors in audio path.
- PCM (Master or Slave) or DSD (Master only) interface. PCM also supports TDM.
- HW (jumper links) or I2C control.
- Selectable digital input filter and high-pass filter.
- 4-layer 100mm x 50mm PCB.
Requires the following supplies (indicated max current):
- 5V for digital (15 mA).
- +/-12V to +/-15V for opamps (50 mA each).
- 6V for DAC references (30 mA).
- This can also be taken from +15V (increases VP current by 30 mA).
- All supplies provided via one 6-pin Molex Micro-Fit.
Features
There is a lot to cover in terms of functionality, for example:
- Multiple output formats (PCM I2S/MSB, TDM, DSD) and their connections and limitations.
- Jumper link configuration and I2C configuration.
- Clocking options.
Therefore, a separate ADC AK5572 v3 guide addresses these.
Important information on order
- Boards are provided fully assembled and tested.
- Make sure you have the necessary skills to connect the board to your system and most importantly understand what you’re doing. Pay particular attention to ensuring you have the correct power supplies and signal levels.
- Be cautious with supply polarity and level. Incorrect connections can damage the board or your power supply.
- If you need help prior to purchase, please contact us.
More information
For measurement results and version history (e.g. changes from v2 to v3), see the tab above.
Note that the board supports mono operation but we do not offer mono variants for now.
Files
We don’t guarantee a perfect match between the files and the board, particularly for mechanical designs based on 3D-models we have not verified. Therefore, please verify any dimensions on the actual board.
